Thanksgiving and braces

Thanksgiving is a fantastic holiday for people with braces, thanks to the abundance of soft, braces-friendly foods.

There are lots of great options to eat, even if you have braces. Turkey is a great option when sliced into tender pieces. It’s easy to chew and doesn’t pose a threat to your brackets or wires. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and stuffing are classic sides that are smooth and comfortable to eat, making them perfect for braces wearers. Soft rolls and cornbread can be enjoyed without worry, especially when you break them into smaller bites. Sweet potatoes, especially in a creamy casserole, are also a braces-friendly delight.

For dessert, pumpkin pie is an excellent choice, as its filling is soft and gentle on your teeth. However, be cautious with the crust, which can sometimes be hard or flaky.

On the flip side, there are a few foods you should avoid. Stay away from crunchy snacks like nuts, chips, or raw vegetable platters, as they can damage your braces. Corn on the cob is another no-go; instead, cut the kernels off to enjoy them safely. Sticky foods like caramel, toffee, or pecan pie can get caught in your braces and should be skipped.

By focusing on soft, easy-to-chew dishes and steering clear of harder or sticky foods, you can fully enjoy Thanksgiving without any braces-related worries. Celebrate the holiday with delicious bites while keeping your smile on track!
